After you set down the King and Queens grail you come to a part where there are a bunch of the 'bug' type enemies. You must shoot the chains to drop a bridge.

If you have the patience to kill all the enemies, shoot the hive type thing in the middle of the room. It will go to a cutscene where it shows the hive fall into the pit and after there are about 10 items you can pick up, all of which are the 'red, green, or blue eyes' used on the Butterfly Lamp. They can also be sold separately for easy money.

When you are low on ammo but have to kill a few enemies try to group them together, shoot the frontman of the group in the head making him stumble then, run up and kick, this should knock down or push back all of the enemies. When they are on the ground simply knife them. Since they are grouped together you should be able to slash a few at a time killing multiple enemies quickly while only using one bullet.

In the mines, when you fight two Gigantes, there's a zip line with a trap door switch at the. If you run back and forth using the zipline and ladder, you'll eventually overtake the zipline. When you do this, you'll ride it down and enter the wall. You can walk through the door from here and skip the fight.

Numbering the slots from top to bottom in that manner, hit the following positions in this order: 4, 7, 8, 9, 6, 3, 1, 7, 9. Watch out for the knights!

At the Round of Insignia, in the tunnel, shoot down that shiny thing. The Amber Ring will fall out.

This process incurs several continues, which have no bearing on the game's ending. At the first El Gigante fight, there is a Yellow Herb in the boss arena. Take this item and combine it with any of the Green Herbs in the same room and use it. This increases Leon's lifebar slightly.

Now let the boss kill Leon. Since the boss' room is at a map transition (the green OPEN command is a dead giveaway), this lets you continue right at the boss fight but with Leon's life increase from your previous attempt. Repeating this process will increase Leon's lifebar to maximum prematurely. Extra Yellow Herbs found later can be given to Ashley, or sold to the merchant for money.

After the Mine Cart Ride, You must use timed Action Buttons to jump off the falling mine cart and get back on the outer side of the cliff. After, go to the next room and right as you step into the next room look to the left. There should be a pile of bones. Go up to them and the 'TAKE' action button will appear. In the pile of bones will be all the gold from the enemies that you killed (Granados, not the Chainsaw men. So take you prize(that can go up to being 10,000) and leave rich.

When battling the two Gigantes bosses in the lava room, drop one in the fire pit. Then kill the other normally. Collect the $15,000 from the first boss and choose to leave the room. Re-enter the lava room and the money from the second boss (dropped into the lava) will be on the lava pit's edge.

Instead of wasting precious ammo on Krauser, wait until he gets close and exposes his vulnerable body (when he is not hiding behind his 'wing') and slice his legs with Leon's knife. It's best to practice this on lone enemies beforehand. As long as you are alert to any 'Dodge' opportunities, Leon should conserve a load of ammunition and be out of the fight fairly quickly.

In the graveyard just behind the entrance hall (the one you get to by the door on the stair landing) go to the fenced area. The camera angle will show some tomb stones in the foreground. On them is some Greek lettering. Chi alpha pi chi omicron mu. This spells out CAPCOM.

When you get to the graveyard for the first time, Run up by the church and shoot the bell, 3 not-zombies will come running from where you entered, shoot, grab items, repeat.

Early in the game, when Leon first enters the village, he should avoid the door that belongs to the building where Leon can get a free shotgun (the largest northeast building). Simply do not run into the house that triggers the cutscene. While Leon will still need to kill zombies to progress, he will not have to deal with the chainsaw enemies, who may be fairly tough on the out-set. After the bell rings, feel free to enter the house and collect the items and shotgun inside.

Not using the RL makes this fight harder, and in my opinion more fun, so try this if you choose not to buy a RL or don't have any cash. When you freeze him get close so the kick option appears, kick him down and he will stay frozen alot longer, allowing you to unload more rounds into him. Another tip if your using the BB when out of ammo freeze him at the next station reload THEN kick him over, you can still get at least 4 shots off. He will take about about 14 BB rounds at 20 damage a piece and a couple of Leon kicks to the face before he meets his doom. Plus you get an item worth 11000 Ptas for killing him.

When you first get to the village and you are having trouble escaping the chainsaw maniacs and other enemies, you can hide in a safe spot. Go to the tall tower in the east side of the village (check your map) and climb up the long ladder. The villagers cannot climb that particular ladder. This also works when you need to place Ashley in a safe spot when exploring this particular area. However, it does not seem to work if you are playing through on the highest difficulty setting.

To Unlock The S.T.A.R.S. Uniform You Must Complete The Game On Normal Or Hard Mode.

Leon can't leave Ashley when he transitions into a new area (signified by the blurring effect); however, he can leave Ashley safe in the corner of a dangerous area then call her over when its safe. You can instantly tell if Leon is about to leave an area if the OPEN or context command is printed in green. If the command is printed in white, Leon will simply open the door to another section of the area. Use this to plan out where Leon can leave Ashley to brave the dangers ahead.

The enemies who captures Ashley will seek to leave by the nearest area exit; these are the exits that have the 'green' OPEN or context command as opposed to the normal 'white' text. If they manage to reach one of these exits, then the game is over. When leaving Ashley to do stuff alone, be sure not to leave her near a green exit door.

In the Castle after you get out of the sewer you will appear at the top of a large ball room wear there are some monks doing a sacrifice. If you alert them they all run away but if you throw a grenade down every single person you kill will drop a spinel or a los illuminados pendent.

When fighting Saddler, knock him down and stand near his eyeball head so that the 'Knife' action appears. Shoot him instead and then start tapping 'A' to do the action attack as well.

When you are at the lake before you face Del Lago (the thing in the water) stand on the dock right before the water and start firing into the water. The creature will not appreciate this.

While holding R, tilt the C-Stick left or right, then quickly release and pull the R trigger again. You will turn almost instantly towards that direction.

In order to unlock the Rocket Launcher Special you beat the game on Normal and you get a chance too buy the Matilda and the Infinite Launcher. The Matilda is $70,000 and the Infinite Launcher is $1000000.

Similar to the FBI Warning on commercial movies, a S.T.A.R.S. and Racoon City Police Department warning is in the game. Check out the end of the credits.

Beat Operation Ada, and the 'Chicago Typewriter', a Thompson with 10.0 firepower, infinite ammo, no reload, and the fire rate of a maxed out TMP, becomes available at the merchant.

If you are low on health spray and herbs when at the lake take aim at the fish and fire away. When you hit a fish it floats. Jump in the boat and ride over the fish and take it. Depending on the size of the fish it will give you health.

Unlock the Matilda handgun (which fires 3 round bursts) by clearing the game.

Each weapon has a special 'exclusive power' when all of its stats are custom tuned to the maximum:

• Handgun - Increases the chance of a headshot being fatal by a factor of five (5% or 20%, take your pick).
• Punisher - Each bullet can penetrate up to five bodies.
• Red 9 - Increases firepower to 5.0
• Blacktail - Increases firepower to 3.4
• Matilda - Increases magazine capacity to 100.
• Shotgun - Increases the effective damage range of the gun.
• Riotgun - Increases firepower to 10.0
• Striker - Increases magazine capacity to 100.
• Rifle - Increases firepower to 18.0
• Semiauto Rifle - Decreases firing speed to 0.40 seconds.
• Broken Butterfly - Increases damage to 50.0
• Killer7 - No exclusive power!
• TMP - Increases firepower to 1.8
• Minethrower - Adds homing ability to mines and increases their blast radii.

In chapter 5-3, right before the room with the lasers, there's a red throne room. Approach the throne and hit 'A' to have Leon sit upon the throne in all his glory.

Late in the game, Leon will stumble across a weapon aptly called the Killer 7, an obvious tip of the hat to Capcom's Killer 7 video game.

In the hall south of the hedge maze there is a locked door. Return to that area with Ashley, piggy back with her and she will unlock the door. This reveals the broken butterfly.

In Chapter 1-1, along the path towards the village you will run along a white dog trapped in a bear trap. If you help this dog he comes in handy later when you are fighting Los Gigante for the first time. About midway through the fight, you will hear the dog bark and he will come to your aid. Los Gigante becomes distracted, and begins to attack the dog rather than you.

When Ashley is standing on a ledge and you are below her, look up at her and she will hold down her skirt and say something about you being a pervert and one or two other funny lines.

If you buy the broken butterfly before you find it, you can hold twice the ammo. The shopkeeper will not sell you this gun if you already have it.

If you mix: GREEN HERB + RED HERB + YELLOW HERB. It restores your health completely and raises your max health.

There are three main buildings in the village where you first see the chainsaw not-zombie. The shotgun is in the northeast building, on the second floor of the house.

Beat the game to unlock the mercenaries mini game.

You, know the guy, who runs around and sells you upgrades for weapons, he has a secret quest for you. You must search two areas of the game for blue medallions and shoot them. Finding and shooting more than 10 of the medallions will reward you with the punisher pistol. This weapon has slightly upgraded statistics and penetrating bullets.

Beat the game to unlock the mini game: Assignment Ada

• To unlock Ada Wong in Mercenaries get a 4 star rating on the Pueblo map of the game.
• To unlock Albert Wesker in Mercenaries get a 4 star rating on the Waterworld map of the game.
• To unlock Hunk in Mercenaries get a 4 star rating on the Island Commando map of the game.
• To unlock Jack Krauser in Mercenaries get a 4 star rating on the Castle map of the game.

There is a quick way to center your gun when aiming up or down. Simply tap the L1 button (takes out your knife) and you will quickly aim straight ahead.

Sometimes when you destroy the wooden crates a snake will jump out and bite you. If you keep slashing with your knife when the box breaks you can kill the snake and receive a healing egg.

When you find these items do not sell them right away. You can increase the value of the items with gems dropped by the flying bugs.

Whenever you upgrade your gun's capacity it fills the weapon with ammo. So don't reload before you buy the upgrade. This works great with weapons that have very little ammo (such as the magnum revolver 'Broken Butterfly'); after you use up the gun's magazine, simply look for the merchant and upgrade the ammo capacity.

After unlocking the handcannon, buy it from the merchant(it will cost 0 pesetas). Save up your cash to upgrade it. When you can get the exclusive upgrade the handcannon gets 99. 9 firepower and unlimited ammo!

As you get farther in the game zombies will get harder to kill. To save ammo, if there are only 1 or 2 zombies, just use your pistol and shoot them in the head they will be dazed or dead if there dazed run to them and kick them then if there still alive hack them with your knife.

This is a glitch I discovered in the game. Thisglitch makes the merchant invincible for atime. To do this, equip the Mine Thrower, and,at point blank range, aim and fire it at hisface. The mine should explode instantly. Youwill be thrown back, but he will still bethere. Once this happens take out any weapon,and shoot/throw it at him, he won't go down. Ijust have 2 warnings about this glitch. Firstof all, you will not be able to talk to him inthis state. Secondly he will only be in thisstate until you go to a door that takes you toanother section (a door that has a mini cutscene when it opens), and if you go back andshoot him, he will die, and you won't see himagain. I also recommend that you have infinatehealth using Gameshark or Action Replay, thismakes it so you don't have to worry aboutkilling yourself when you use the Mine Thrower.

After you beat the game for the first time, eachtime you approach a boss in the game, you'll forsome reason always have enough money to purchasea rocket launcher. Unless your saving for theinfinate launcher, it would be best to buy thenormal Launcher for the bosses.

In the castle area, right after engaging theBugs in the sewers, you will see a large groupof Ganados Zealots in mid prayer. If you spookthem they will run away, and you miss out onALOT of money. Right before the sewer they giveyou a flash grenade. SAVE IT. When preparing theambush on the congregation, go north then swingacross the chandelier. When on the other sidelook down, and try to hit them all with a flashgrenade to stun. Immediately jump down and runnorth to their exit point so you lock them in.If you have an incendiary or frag grenade youcould use it here, other wise line them up forsome shotgun carnage. They will each drop aspinel and their leader drops an Illuminadospendant, worth around 32000 altogether.

To get a machine gun called the ChicagoTypewriter, succesfully get all 5 plagas samplesin Assignment Ada.

To get a Rocket Launcher with endless ammo, theInfinite Launcher, complete story mode once. Itwill be on sale for 1,000,000 pesetas.

If any zombie has a torch in their hand shoot their hand or arm and they will burn themselves.

All of you ppl use those headshots to take care.Not me. Go shoot a zombies knee. He'll getstunned. Then go right to his face and press A.Leon will kick and the zombie and the zombie isdead. This saves a bunch of ammo, which is whatyou'll care about as the game goes on.

About halfway through chapter 2-1, you canmax out your health. When you get to El Gigante(the giant, ogre guy), you can find a yellow herbin the area. Look for a green herb in the housesif you don't have one. Mix the herbs together anduse them. Let El Gigante kill you. You should beable to find the yellow herb again and yourhealth will keep its extension. You can do thisuntil your health maxes out. This is the onlyplace it works, so do it there.

At times you can open a door to get the attentionof an enemy. Then step back till they are at thedoor trying to get through. When and if thishappens double tap the A button to kick the dooropen. If you did it correctly it will knock theenemy down, then you press the A button when itshows to suplex them and somestimes it kills them.

That's right, combine these with a green herb andnot only do you get your health back but yourmaximum health will upgrade, just like an RPG.

Save your flash bang grenades because if you blow their head off and the zombie grows another one throw the flash bang and its head explodes this can save a lot of ammo.

If you encounter krauser with Leon the best way to kill him and save ammo is by pulling out your knife and simultaneously slash him. Be sure to have a green herb or a first aid spray because chances are he will fight back.

Go to the pier near the lake and shoot up in theair with a pistol at least 7 times and thealligator should come up out of the lake and eatyou right off the pier. Make sure your at the endof the pier.

Beat the game on Professional. This will also give you Ashley's armor suit. She cant die!

When you are searching for the little blue stoneseverywhere when you find 10 you can get a gun forfree. For an even better gun shoot all of thelittle blue stones (15 stones) you will get aneven better gun.

Other people are gonna tell you to use a shotgun or butterfly gun on el gigane, but really theeasiest way to beat him is using a rocketlauncher. It kills him in one shot, so don'tmind spending 30,000 to get the gun, cause afteryou beat him your getting 15,000 back anyway. Ifyou don't have the launcher though, a fewgrenades don't hurt.

Right before you fight him you'll come across acamp and you go underground and meet up with themerchant. By then you should be able to fullyupgrade the Broken Butterfly. Do it because whenfully upgraded it kills any boss in four to fiveshots. I killed Krauser in five shots withoutaiming at his head, even at his knees it counts.One shot to his knees and one to his chest 2x,then one final blow to his knees. Enjoy sendingthis bad boy commando back to training.

When you want to sell one of your guns foranother gun but you wont have enough, just reloadthe gun and it will be worth more.

In some levels you have to walk around withashley behind you, and she cant do everythingyou can do by herself. Like when you jump downfrom a spot you will see 'Catch' at the bottomof the screen. Push The 'A' button and she willjump down and you will catch her. And There aresome spots where you can make her hide inplaces. Do This With the 'X' button.

Once your in the caslte always check behindpictures of Saddler, you will find 5,000 goldeverytime.

When you enter the castle stage, go to placeswhere you go down and catch Ashley from the top.Except don't catch her, instead you pull out yourrifle (if you have one)and zoom in for look on awhite underwear! To get a better look buy thebetter scope from the merchant.

When you first enter Pueblo, there is a house onthe top right (if you look on your map, the onenear the center spot) This place containsammunition and the shotgun and a grenade. Ifyou want the shotgun, do not go in there untilyou've cleared out the villagers, because achainsaw villager will come! simply waste allthe villagers till they leave, then enter thehouse, the shotgun will be right there, clearout the houses without having fear of beingattacked for the chainsaw bagman can kill you inone slice of his chainsaw, and since your in asmall building, this is very likely.

In the beginning of the game after you pass thebig house and small hut, you will encounter adog trapped in a bear trap. If you save him, hewill then help you defeat the first 'El Gigante'later in the game.If you don'y save him, youwill have to kill the 'El Gigante' without hishelp.

To get a game where you play Ada, complete storymode once. Assignment Ada will be found at themain menu.

To get the mini-game, The Mercenaries, completestory mode once. The Mercenaries can be found atthe main menu.

To get the rapid-fire handgun, Matilda, completestory mode once. You will get a message sayingthat you can now buy Matilda.

To get a powerful gun called the Handcannon, geta 5 star ranking on each level, with eachcharacter in The Mercenaries.

At the very first of the game, at the very firsttown, after you kill all of the civilians,search all the buildings, in one of thebuildings upstairs is a shotgun hanging on thewall. There should be some ammo for it on thetable too.

After you defeat the zombie people from comingin the house where Luis helps you, you could gotwo ways. If you take the way near the sales manthen you will have to fight a chainsaw lady. Youshould start off by making Ashely hide and killall the zombie people in the area. You will seea pit but leave Ashely hiding in the trash canthing, dont bring her with you. You need arocket launcher for this. Once you jump into thepit the chainsaw lady will come with thosezombie people. All you have to do is aim yourrocket launcher at her and fire. You will behurt alot so be sure to have a first aid sprayor some herbs cause the villagers will jump intothe pit after you kill the chainsaw lady.

When opening a door, double-tap the A buttoninstead of pressing it once. If you're not at acontinue point, you will kick it open instead ofjust pushing it!!

There are lots of boxes and barrels that you canblast open with your gun, they will contain allsorts of items, however, you also wanna keep yourbullets. Instead of shooting the boxes, hold downL and press A, you'll swipe at the boxes with yourknife. This trick can be used to break windows,display cases, locks and bear traps. Also if youknock a villager down, try knifing them whilethey're on the ground as one bullet does keep themdown for a little while.

You will obtain some items that aren't worth muchinitially as a trade, however, if you add certainjewels to them, they will be worth way more. Theeasiest example is the beer stein. As is it's notworth much, but it has room for 3 jewels to beadded. Adding the jewels will up its value!

If you're feeling kinda bored .. or hostile andyou feel like screwing yourself over for the restof the game, simply find the merchant and shoothim in the head. Now he's gone on you're on your own.

Running low on health without an herb in sight?Simply find yourself a crow, a fish, a dog, achicken or a cow. Shoot them till theymoves-no-more and voila, you have a health item!

Early on in the game you'll come across a wolfcaught in a bear trap. You can choose to help thisanimal or leave it by pressing A. If you help thedog, you will be rewarded later when he helps youdefeat a boss!

In the village and the cemetery you will noticeblue necklaces haging in trees and other areas.Shoot these jewels with your gun. Destroying 10 ofthem will unlock a weapon from the stranger in thewoods, a 9mm pistol called The Punisher.
